When is it time to give up on a car?
Background: 1998 Nissan Altima, engine runs tight (doesn't use oil), has new plug wires, new distributor cap, new plugs, new EGR valve, newer radiator, newer alternator, newer brakes, newer tires. I've owned the car for 10 years.
Now, however, it's transmission is shot, to the tune of $1800.
The car has a market value of $1900. Obviously, selling it in the condition its in MIGHT bring $800 at best.
Do I spend $1800 and keep it, or basically walk away from it and start over?

you can fix it cheaper than you can actually buy another car right now so it might b worth fixing,if you walk away you loose all you have invested in it up to this point,so it would make more sense to repair it than walk away from it,if the body is real good and it looks good still yet id repair it,and at least get my moneys worth from driving it,good luck.
a new car 17 thousand dollars ....1800 for a new transmission.... priceless
