My brother has a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse 5-Speed. Here recently, within two days, the brake lights went out, the speedometer went out, the turn signals do not function and the radio does not function. The vehicle was taken to the Auto Parts store, they thought it might have been the battery(the associate advised that if the battery is low, it could effect the computer and the vehicle would do unexpected things), and a new battery was purchased. Within one or two days, the battery went dead again. The fuses are still good, and a new brake switch was purchased and installed. The vehicle will start after being boosted, then it starts sputtering very badly, almost appearing to choke. This sputtering will continue but the vehicle will not move from the spot its in, and it will not accelerate. This sputtering action seems to only take place after the clutch is pushed or the vehicle slows down or idles for more than a few seconds. The vehicle will also not stay running, after being boosted, the vehicle seems to begin sputtering shortly and then die. We have found no obvious cause for this. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
