2002 Thunderbird?
I am thinking of purchasing a 2002 Ford Thunderbird from a local dealership (pre-owned, obviously).
only 40k or so miles on it, $25k, and it is a convertible hardtop.
got a few questions, did this year/model have an automatic opening hardtop, or is it all down by hand?
was this car a good car, performance, fuel economy, and what is the fun factor? how does it compare to a new mustang, which i am also thinking of buying instead?
I want detailed answers on this specific make of car. no opinions that I should go with another make. links to websites would be appreciated, but should not be the only thing in responses.

My 02 has about 47k miles. Red; and the top is motor operated. I never bought the hard top because it is heavy and takes 2 persons to lift it and stow it somewhere. Very inconvenient! I love my car, it never has had problems. I just purchased an extended warranty, 4 more years or 100K miles. About $2200. Fuel economy is pretty good for an 8-cyl. No problem there. Fun factor: whenever I pull up to the gas pump someone always tells me how cool this car is, even after 5 years. Me...I definitely would NOT get Mustang instead. With that mileage you are OK I think.
This quote is straight from a Consumer Reports road test review of an 02 Thunderbird. They tested the Premium model, as apposed to the deluxe model....
"The Thunderbird is a modern car styled to resemble its classic original version. With a relatively quiet interior and a supple if somewhat floaty ride, it is a relaxed cruiser rather than a sporty roadster. The T-Bird handles reasonably well and has plenty of power, but the body twists and shakes too much. In addition, head room is tight and the engine slurps too much fuel."
Pretty much their overall impression was that it is a fun, peppy comfy car, but not a sports cars power/handling wise. Also the seats sit up high so tall drivers did not like it at all. They averaged 17mpg on premium fuel.
I could not find the info about the hardtop being auto or manual sorry.
From what I have read, unless you are very tall, this car would be a lot more comfortable to drive than a new Mustang, but would not handle as well, and although has a peppy engine, would be outmuscled by the Mustang.

Same as 420wizzle However the hardtop must be removed and installed by hand
because they are asking $10,000 decrease than its authentic fee, i might purchase it. whether I in simple terms drove it for a short bit and then traded it in on something else and make the money off the automobile. Kelly blue e book says the automobile is worth approximately $sixteen,000.
