check and make sure your getting fuel to the fuel rail. If so then check and see if you are getting spark from the spark plugs. If you are getting both then i recommend you take you car to a "trustworthy" mechanic and have him do a compression test to make sure your getting enough compression. Could also be starter is inoperative.

Typical problem? It'a a Land Rover. The fact that it ever starts is a minor miracle.
