I have had this problem for over a year now. My car runs great and all of a sudden for no reason it wont start, I let it sit sometimes up to 2 days and it starts back up. My battery is a year old & lights and radio work fine. Last time this happened I called a tow truck & 30 minutes later I turned the key & car started. Check engine light comes on so I had it checked out and no codes came back so I have no clue what to look for. I want to say it's the alternation because it sounds like it wants to start & yes it has gas. Please help, Thank you

Was your engine light still on when you had it checked out? No codes will appear if you put a scanner on the car with the engine light off.
Having to let the car sit before it starts up again suggests to me that you might have a bad crank/cam position sensor. When these components deteroriorate, they become sensitive to temperature and if they get too hot, they produce excessive resistance in the circuit that their voltage signals have to travel to get to the computer. This causes the computer to either not receive the crank signal, or receive it sparratically, and will cause the computer to generate a trouble code relating to the circuit. Only after letting the car cool down for a while do these sensors begin working well enough to allow the car to run, and once the computer sees the system is functioning correctly, it will remove the code and shut the engine light off.
