Playa Diana is my hangout. The rocks there add intrest , are fun to dive off and swim around to see a few fish. Nice to sit on with your MP3 player and a beer and contimplate life. The slope of the beach here is very gradual and also has a nice wide open view of the steep slope of Condesa beach and the waves that come in.
Oxxo conv. store is about a 20 minute round trip when you need more beer. The large rock also gives you some shade in the late afternoon if you need to escape the sun.
Dont bother with Puerta Marquis to the south - very narrow beach and dirty. Waste of time to leave the Acapulco bay and travel to ! Another small and dirty beach is Colleta to the North. The small island up near Colleta has a beach accessable only by boat or the ferry and is pretty nice. Not many people but the veiw is not of the ocean but back towards Colleta - still worth checking out.
Now the absolute BEST beach is Pie de la Cuesta. 30 minutes to the north. Huge deserted beach with completely tranquil feel. No one is there - no one ! Waves on average are 20 ft. Do not swim in them - they will kill you. Frolic in the surf and admire them but dont go out to far !
There is a fresh water lagoon across the street to water ski and jet ski on. Also nice to dip in and wash off the salt water for your trip home. Many small , NICE , mom and pop hotels with pools and great rates.
Pie de la Cuesta is the hidden gem of Acapulco. No traffic , noise pollution , no people , no beach peddlers. Just a laid back "feel' to the place and there are little stores for beer and cigarettes and a few laid back street bars to hng out at. Just a magical spot.
