i'm on a G4 visa and i am applying for a green card and the form G325A asks for an alien registration number. am i supposed to have one and if so,where can i find it?

If you've ever had an employment card then your A number is on that.
If not, just leave it blank, they will assign an A number to you.
you wont have one yet ..a G4 is a non immigrant visa
What make you think you can get a green card .. have you retired from your diplomatic job
and has the dept of state given permission ,..
