I am shopping for new eye glasses.
Previously, I saw the AK petite glasses model number 8062 and liked them.
The store I went to did not have them and when they looked them up online they said they could not find them online to order. The store explained that if model number 8062 was not online that meant AK was phasing them out and I should not buy them because if I buy 'phased out' glasses, should they ever need repair, it would be impossible because they parts would also be 'phased out'.
He suggested I order model number 8061 from him, but he did not have them in the store. He claims they look the same. I didn't buy model number 8061 without seeing them in person.
Instead I went to another store and found model number 8062. But then I was wary about buying them because if they are due to be discontinued soon I don't want to risk the chance of needing repair a year from now and not being able to find the parts for 8062.
Could someone shed some light on whether 8062 is due to soon be discontinued.
And if so, is model number 8061 the best substitution?

If you want the AK-8062, I would suggest trying to find them on one of the on-line eyeglasses sites, they might stillhave some in stock, you also might be able to look at the AK-8061 and see what they look like. Normally these places make complete glasses, but most will sell you empty frames if you want the lenses fitted locally. I wouldn't worry too much about them being "phased out" There isn't really that many things to repair on eyeglasses frames; If the problem is more serious than a lost hinge screw or nose pad, most people just get new glasses.

There is a company called Replacement Lens Express that could probably answer your question. E-mail them at info@replacementlensexpress and tell them exactly what you just said above. Their website is focused on prescription eyeglass lenses, but they also sell frames and an optician should respond promptly.
