Hey, i have already answered this same question somewhere else, so i'll state the same thing here.
There's not much news out about Elder Scrolls 5...
BUT,
Todd Howard (Designer, Director & Producer of the Elder Scrolls series) has dropped some exciting
news this year from Gamescon to an interview with Eurogamer.net. He stated that he is indeed
working on 2 projects right now that are overlapping each other... one of those projects has been
in development for the last 2 years and that there is alot of gameplay to show off to the public,
but PR (Pete Hines) isn't ready just quite yet. They are waiting for the right time.
Also, i should note that Fallout: New Vegas is NOT be developed by Bethesda, it is being developed
by Obsidian (Bethesda is just publishing it).
In this interview, Todd has also said the engine for this upcoming game is from Oblivion/Fallout 3, but upgraded in a major way ("it will feel almost like playing on a new console"), just like fallout 3 was upgraded from Oblivion.
so two things here:
They won't be using ID's IDTech 5 engine for this new game, they'll be sticking with gamebryo. I don't know of any other Bethesda games that use the Gamebryo engine, so i say its a safe bet this game is gonna be Elder Scrolls 5.
I think we can expect an announcement sometime this Fall... with a possible release date in the spring of 2011... they usually release elder scrolls games in the spring i have noticed.
Todd also said that from the time that they officially announce this game to the time they release it, it will be the shortest that they have ever done (Oblivion was announced in 2004, released in 2006).
I have included the links, check them out and read the full interview...there is much more information there than i can type. also, Bethesda released there first official podcast as well were at the end todd states the same thing that he said in the interview....
I am obviously very excited by this news...
Also, Bethesda has Patented/Registered: Skyrim, so you could wonder if Elder Scrolls 5 will be based there.
UPDATE: I would read Octobers edition of EGM's magazine, link @ bottom:
"Finally, Fallout and Elder Scrolls fans will love this month’s EGM Interview with Bethesda’s Todd Howard. Get to know the creator of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Fallout 3, the inner processes of Bethesda, and some hints about the future!"
You know I am really excited for Elder Scrolls V but the thing is that it won't be out or "rumored" until next year because Bethesda is currently working on Fallout New Vegas and I highly doubt that Bethesda team will create two games at once but thats just what im thinking. I don't have any rumor on TES V but my suggestion to that game is that they should add dual-wielding and a better quest tracker. Oh and yea please remove the fast map traveling feature (the ability to travel anywhere instantly by using the map) because it ruins the open world of the game. Multiplayer would be nice but PvP only, no questing together or whatever and the reason why because you don't want to see someone destroying the whole town and you're not able to buy, repair, or sell anything? Maybe multiplayer should be like the arena on TES IV. Thats all I have to say. Hopefully TES V will release next year.
I read in the Xbox Magazine that Bethesda confirmed an Elder Scrolls 5 but nothing has been revealed yet. By the sounds of it they are going to make it their next big project
There were rumors, but it seems none of them were true. I don't think it will come out in near future. Elder Scrolls 4 was released in 2004, it's been 6 years and not one solid information. But still hoping it will come someday.
Actually, Oblivion was released in 2006, I know, I was there, Morrowind was released in 2001, and Daggerfall was released in 1996, so based on this, I do believe TES V will be released in 2011, and the info I know 99% for sure is that it will be in either Skyrim (Mountain, Snowy, Wasteland) or Summerset Isle(An island, bigger than Vvardenfell)
