I am looking into a new apartment and I found one that was PERFECT for me, the only problem is my golden retriever is a bit... bigger. But he is the SWEETEST dog you could ever find! he is basically just like a big cat (he runs away from chickens... lol)
it there any exception do you think they would make? I know 80 lbs seems big but but literally has never caused a problem, he doesn't even bark.

sorry Emily they can't make exceptions or it would be called discrimination for others and the complex would get sued.
I've never seen a dog at 80 lbs let alone a golden retriever, is it healthy?
Maybe you two need a place out in the country so why not get a mobile home?
And, there are a few apartment complexes around that do allow larger dogs but you'd have to look for them.
talk to the manager. Maybe even bring the dog in. However, as a land lord I would say NO. Why? because when I let your sweet 80lb dog in, I will then have to let the next 80 lb pit bull in. If I say no to the pit bull, I open myself up to legal action. I didn't enforce the rules equally - and this is where a landlord can get in to deep trouble.
I'm sorry, but in life there are decisions. Here is a case in point. The PERFECT apartment or the SWEETEST dog.
Sorry, but 80 pounds isn't "just a bit bigger" than 25, he's more than 3 times the limit. You might get away with a dog 26 pounds or even 30, but 80? Sorry, look for another apartment.
You can ask them if they'll make an exception, but don't expect them to say yes.
Apartment complexes are typically owned by larger companies and the apartment manager is just an employee who has to follow the rules. Any rule in place at an apartment complex that is a rule in writing doesn't provide exceptions because it would not be fair to other people who have to follow the same rules.
Not likely, for the reasons offered above. It's not fair to a dog that large to be confined to an apartment anyway.
I suggest you get a letter of recommendation from your previous landlord attesting to your dog's good nature and quiet demeanor. Depending on where this place is and the landlord's attitude, you can at least ask.
No. If they make an exception for you, they would have to make it for everyone. Find another place that will accept your golden.
be like can i talk to your manager or whoever is in charge and be like i know my dog is big but please hear me out. Tell them how good of a dog he is and that he will cause no trouble .
You can ask, they are not required to say yes.
It may help if you ask if you can bring your big pussy cat to meet them.
