Creationism - the idea that an intelligence created the universe. Usually, but not always, refers to the Christian God and a literal interpretation of the book of Genesis.
Intelligent design - the idea that some features of the biological world display the property of irreducible complexity, which is taken to mean that they were designed by an intelligence. In order to distance ID from religious belief, superficially at least, the intelligence is never named, but we all know what they mean.
Creationism sounds like it implies that it doesn't have to be intelligent. It could be stupid design.
That would make more sense too. Just look at how we have a tail bone, but no tail. Males have nipples. Dolphins have a separate hole for breathing and eating, but humans don't, giving us a chance to choke to death. And look at all the people who need glasses. And most solar systems are unstable where the planet gets flung into space or into it's parent star. And why can't humans grow back lost parts, but lizards can? And why are there babies that die right after birth? It goes on and on.
Either it's stupid design, or it's not a design at all.
No. Why should I? Atheism does not say anything about our origins. Atheists do not believe in the existence of any god, simply because there is no evidence for the existence of any god, let alone for any specific god. Intelligent design and creationism have both thus far not come up with evidence for the existence of any god, let alone for any specific god, so why should I know the difference between them? I do not care how you call your personal theories. Simply provide evidence for the existence of your specific god, that is all we ask.
Yes I do. Assume at this point please that I know what ID refers to specifically. I can show that by explaining that I understand that creationism in general refers only to a "creationist belief". This creationist belief may or may not be held in a "belief system".
There are many different kinds of creation myths... and yes... they are all classified as myths.
Yes one is believing that a 2000 year old book is literally true the other is an underhanded attempt to get that book taught in science class. I also know that "Logical Creationist" is an oxymoron.

"Intelligent design" is a more disingenuous term for the same thing.

Do you understand why both are wrong?

Yes.
One was shown to be unscientific and should not be taught alongside evolution in the science classroom by the supreme court back in 1987.
The other was shown to be unscientific and should not be taught alongside evolution in the science classroom by the supreme court in 2005.
Yeah, there's such a big difference between the two -.-
Yes I do, I don't buy either, but I do understand the differences.
They're both based on faith and faith is belief without evidence, so I'll remain a well informed atheist.
Yes, why do you ask?
Creationism = The belief, and literal following, of one of the many creation myths
Intelligent Design = A group of pseudoscientific theories that have been torn apart and rejected, in every form, by nearly all scientists

Intelligent design is creationism in a lab coat.
Yes, I do. Unfortunately many christians don't know the difference between atheist and scientist.
