audio recording package? tips?
hey! i think i've finally come up with an idea about what i want to get. could you guys give me any tips or opinions on this? im looking to record myself playing acoustic guitar and vocals. ok..so here's my list..
1) 1 or 2 Audio-Technica AT4040 mics
2) M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro Interface
3) and I already have a laptop (macbook pro) with imovie and garageband
Is this the right idea? what else would you suggest or what opinions do you have on this? i'm new to this and just want to be pointed in the right direction. thanks!

One thing I would change is getting a Saffire 6 USB interface instead of the M-Audio Pro, since the Saffire has better preamps and converters and is a little more stable for around the same price:

Also don't forget the mic stands and a pop filter for when doing vocals. The AT4040 are pretty nice mics. You may also check out the Studio Projects CS1 or CS5, which are also top notch in that price range.
Lastly, you'll get a better recording if you track your guitars and vocal separately. You could get away with just one mic in that case. Then again, having two condensers for stereo recording is pretty convenient. Personally I use just one mic, play the acoustic part twice with precision, and pan them left and right for this wide sound.
If you start getting more precise about your recording production quality, you'll eventually want to look into acoustic treatment for your room if needed, to minimize unwanted resonances and reflections.
