my 18wk daughter has a green discharge from 1 eye, at 1st we thought it was conjunctivas, but its not red, isnt spreading (when she rubs her eyes / to anyone else in the house) any ideas what it could be? she's fine in herself, no temp etc and she is showing signs of teething
(and before anyone says take her to the doctors my doctor will NOT give her anything for it as its a minor illness and dont like giving babies antibotics )
Update:its not constant discharge. i have seen the health vistor but as its not constant couldnt say anything. its defo not underdeveloped tear duct.
but what "eye goobers" as its only a tiny green discharge and isnt bothering her at all and this seems to decribe it best

Its could be a few things. If its just a little blob at the corner of her eye upon waking its most likely eye goobers. My husband and daughter both have green eye goobers and they are perfectly healthy. but if its constant eye discharge its most likely a bacterial eye infections which doesnt require medical treatment unless she gets a fever, acts sick or her eye starts to get red and puffy.
My baby had the same thing, it's nothing serious. It's probably just a cold of the eye/infection, thats what it was with my daughter. But I still had to take her to the doctor. He gave me a prescription for some eyedrops. I used them twice a day, 2 drops in each eye. It took care of it and cleared it right up :) hope this helps.
It might be that she has under developed tear ducts, you could try gently rubbing, in a circular motion, the area between her eye and nose and see if that helps it clear up but I would take her to see your GP or Health Visitor for advice if it were me (sorry!)
its probably just a blockage in her tear ducts as the probably havent opened properly yet. my son had the same thing, my midwife just told me to use hot water on a cotton bud to keep it clean as at that age it is not advised you giver them too much medication.. try the warm water n cotton wool n see how it goes :)
I know you don't want to hear this, but you should take her to the doctor. We only have one set of eyes, so we have to be careful with them. It's probably the start of a cold or sinuses, but better safe than sorry.
Not a clue. go with your
Pediatrician's advice.
