Well to see it you can get an app in the app store, but some of those round to the nearest 5 or 10 percent. If you want the exact percentage without downloading an app, you can go into settings and turn voice over on in triple click. Now that you have that setting on triple click the home button and touch the battery icon in the upper right hand corner. Now voice over starts talking and will tell you your iPod's exact battery percentage. The downside is that you can't see it on your screen.

There is an app in the app store you can get. It's called Battery Magic. It's a free app. It tells you how much percentage you have on your iPod left.
Jailbreak is the only way for an ipod
