I like the first answer, made some good points. But I wanted to say that Rock House Mehtod makes quality DVD learning tools for guitar and have a 3 disc set specifically for acoustic guitar. You can check it out on Musiciansfriend.com.

All video lessons, completely free and thorough.

You can also go on youtube and check out the channels guitarjamzdotcom and youcanlearnguitar. The instructor for those vids is marty schwartz, very good instructions!

Try those before the DVD, you won't be disapointed. If yuo still want to use a DVD, check out Rock House Method.

I think you'd be better off finding a teacher or using a book. It's hard to learn from DVDs because:

1. Instead of going slow and concentrating, you'll try to keep pace with the DVD

2. A book can teach you much more than a DVD can. Besides, most guitar books come with CD's now, so you will be able to hear the right way to play things.

Try Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Complete Edition: Books & CD's 1, 2 and 3. You can get it from Amazon for under $16.
