I'm looking for a surround sound system for my bedroom, mainly for music (from my computer or iPhone)
I've been looking, and I can't really figure out what I should get. I'm looking for a very, very nice bass. My budget is $400 max. I'd like to have all 5 speakers, a sub, receiver and remote, and I plan to hang the speakers on my wall. Can someone please help me?
I looked at the Polk Audio RM510, but it doesn't include a receiver (and I couldn't find a receiver that was sufficient for the audio and under my budget.) and I didn't know if I could mount the speakers to the wall.

First if its only for music you don't need a surround sound system. A 2 channel stereo system is all you need, a surround system is a waste of money and you'd be compromising sound quality to get something on that budget.
Your best bet is to simply buy a pair of powered monitors and you'd be done. A pair of Tannoy 501a's for around $300 for the pair would be a good example, besides they sound good for the money.

There are things better than Surround sound too, although for your question, the answer is simple Dolby Digital Surround Sound 7.1 if not, go for 5.1 Personally, I like DTS better but that is because of the space I have. A lot of considerations make a difference on what feels best for examnple, the acoustic quality of the room, space to run wires around, the furniture, all determine whether a million dollar theater system will sound like a duck or not.
To be honest the amp is the most important part I remember being told very recently when I upgraded my entry system to a mid range that the receiver is the brains. I'd invest more in a good amp and cheap speakers and then maybe upgrade when I was better off. remember you don't have to buy everything at once.
good solid amp with basic speakers for now is the way forward on your budget
Check out Onkyo HT-S3500. It is under $400.

I would recommend getting something like a HTIB (Home Theater in a box).
and for your remote i use a harmony 650(which i love). instead of having 1 more remote you can just buy a universal one that can control everything.
spending most of the money on the speakers is all fine and dandy but you also need to make sure you have high quality HDMI and digital optical cable to ensure that you experience the best quality sound. ill post link to my suggestions below.
also i would recommend something from Monster for cables since they normally give life time warranty on their products.

Music doesn't produce surround sound. DVD/Blue Ray movies do. Kevin L. is right.
go for the philips that is good
