A few days ago, I flipped on a switch downstairs and saw a big, black cockroach scurry to a dark corner. It was about 2.5 inches (no joke), had long antennae, and an oval-shaped body. Could someone please tell me what kind of cockroach this is and if there could be more hiding? This is the first cockroach I've seen in 2 yrs (and I've flipped on many switches since :D). Any advice or comments is great! Thanks!

Are you somewhere down south? They have a type of large, flying cockroach called a 'palmetto bug' in many southern states. They don't bite, but you don't want them in the house either. They normally hide between the cracks of palmetto trees (thus the name) but will slip into anywhere they'll fit. Most houses don't have cracks that big, but they could always hide under rugs or behind furniture.
