Ok, I'm headed to france in British Airways in a week and I was planning to take a Hand baggage that was 26in x 18in x 9in, but the required size to be considered a hand baggage is 22in x 18in x 10in. So, the question is will they let me slide just for 2 inches, or will they force me to check the bag as "Checked baggage"? I would appreciate if someone answers this question who has expereniced this problem before and dealt with it, thanks.

well the bag i usually bring is a little bigger than the measurements they gave and honestly there is no place on your way to your flight in the airport where they force you to measure it or weigh it. they have those metal container things that are like "it must fit inside this box to be carried as hand luggage" but if it is not noticeably larger than other hand luggage they wont even make you do that. also what type of plane are you flying on? the bigger jets like 777 747 etc. will easily fit it in the overhead bin but sometimes on smaller jets they make you check it at the gate but then you get it as soon as you get off the plane.
