How did it get there, or how do you deal with a bite from one?
Well, it probably got there is some vacationer's luggage. If you are bitten by one, get to the hospital as soon as you can. If you're an adult, it most likely isn't going to kill you, but it will cause a necrotizing ulcer that can take months to heal, and will look really bad when it finally does.
From what I have learned in school, if you are bitten by a brown recluse YOU WILL KNOW IT (if that is indeed the question). A huge ulcer will form and could very well necrotize the area distal to the bite.
This is not something to ignore; it can cause significant damage to the area of the bite.
