if you were to stick a wood splint into the bottom of the flame for 7 seconds, or the center of a flame for 7 seconds, or the top of the flame for 7 seconds, which part of the flame will burn the splint the most?

The splint will be burnt the most by the top (surprisingly, although the light blue part of the flame is the most hot) because heat is rising and is able to burn the most at the top.
It can be been a long time considering the fact that I've used a bunsen burner, however here goes: 1. Scale down the fuel strain, or modify the valve on the burner if it has one. 2. Develop the fuel strain, or open the valve on the burner. Three. The yellow flame shows that the gasoline isn't burning absolutely. The soot is carbon given off by way of the combustion reaction. It can be giving off carbon monoxide, too, which will also be damaging. With any normal gasoline equipment, you want to peer a blue flame, which is hotter, and suggests a suitable response.
