I've been with the same employer for just over a year(very large corporate position). Prior to being hired at this job, I have also had another evening job. The corporate position does a shift bid every 6-12 months, although my schedule has been changed 3 times in just over a year. They do not allow any shifts swaps temporarily or permanently. Now the new shift I have been "awarded", conflicts greatly with my evening job on 1 night. I'm told they only will do adjusted schedules for people in school, and will not accommodate me for my other position. I've explained that I am the only income in my household and HAVE to work multiple jobs in order to survive. My evening job has bent over backwards to accommodate me with the ever changing schedule.! My concern is if anyone knows if this employer can legally not accommodate me when they do it for people in school?? Seems discriminatory to me......

It may be discrimination but it is not illegal discrimination. There is a difference.
"People who have a 2nd job" are not a protected class of people under the law.
Didn't you also miss the opportunity to rebid your shift, which is why you now have this problem? They are allowed to do this, and have no obligation to accommodate your scheduling needs. You do not fall into a protected class of people, so even if it seems discriminatory, it isn't illegal.
Of course they can. What makes you think that YOU get to dictate when you'll work? The employer decides that. Do you really think there could be a law saying that an employer must let employees work when they want to? What kind of chaos would that bring?
Discriminatory? Do you know what that is? This is NOT discriminatory.
You say you've been told they won't make any shifts to accommodate your other job ... but who told you that? If it wasn't someone in the HR department, I'd say it's worth your time to speak to someone from there to see if that is indeed the case.
There is nothing illegal in what they're doing.
