Absolutely they can. It's the light they put out, not the amount of electricity they use, that matters. I raise African violets as a hobby, and mine are totally raised indoors under plain old shop lights with 40-watt fluorescent bulbs. I win blue ribbons at shows all the time :-)
Edit: To the person above who mentioned Seattle - I live just 15 minutes from downtown Seattle; I promise you that you do NOT have to have a "vitamin D" lamp (whatever the heck THAT is). As long as you have a bulb with a reasonable spectrum of light, you'll do just fine. If you get a fluorescent fixture, go for one "cool white" and one "warm white" tube, and you've got it made. A shop light is a cheap means of lighting an area for plants, and you can pick one up at any hardware store.
First it's an awesome idea for a project. It's on the study of pH balances effect on plant growth. Unfortunately, unless you have special growing lights, there going to have to sit near a window. I did a science project back in the day on the effects of salt and buoyancy by trying to float an egg in water and finding the right combination of salt and water to make the egg completely neutral buoyancy, meaning it is suspended in the container of salt water.
Get a growing bulb they will grow for a fact.
Get a growing bulb, and they will definitely grow.
ieet idea........yeaa they can grow under lightss....... certain lights.....diffdeent plants react to diff things ya know?!
Unfortunatly, no, However if you have vitimin D lamps, such as those they have in seatle, then yes they will grow.
yes but it depends what color light you put
