In my opinion, Canada has better music. I might be being a little biased since I live in Canada so I have better knowledge of Canadian music.

Hey, you didn't leave. Good for you.
I prefer Australia because Canada basically puts out bands like Nickelback, Theory Of A Deadman, 3 Days Grace etc.
BQ. Rush, Strapping Young Lad, 3 Inches Of Blood,
BQ2. Airbourne, Buffalo, AC/DC, Wolfmother.
Edit. I'm glad you stayed. I also like Protest The Hero, I'm a big fan of Mathcore. I also like early Our Lady Peace. Then again I'm not that knowledgeable of Canadian music.
A good chunk of my music is Canadian (probably has to do with my birth country) Including but not limited to
I Mother Earth
The Tea Party
The Tragically Hip
Black Mountain
Rush
Neil Young
Alanis Morrisette
Our Lady Peace
Econoline Crush
Holy F*ck
The Trews
The Guess Who
I don't listen to much Australian to say I have a favorite band but I did like Silverchair for a bit back in the 90's
Is this even a question?
Canada has so many amazing bands and artists.
Metric, The Stills, The Tragically Hip, K-os, Arcade Fire, The Sam Roberts Band, The Matthew Good Band, Sarah McLachlan, Our Lady Peace, Tokyo Police Club, Wolf Parade. The list is endless.
My favorite Canadian band is Metric. I saw them live at Edgefest '09. Amazing performance.
Canada by far. Its not even close.
The Band
Joni Mitchell
Rush
Neil Young
Arcade Fire
BTO
Avril Lavigne
Bush
Nickelback
Steppenwolf
Alanis Morrisette
Loverboy
Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush
Sum 41
Guess Who
BQ: The Band (Levon Helm is American, but the rest of the group was Canadian -- so close enough)
BQ2: The Seekers!
I like Canadian bands and Australian bands, I'm undecided
Canadian:
BQ1: D.O.A. (I like the older material but there is a song I really like and I can't find a link, track titled, We Don't Need No God D*mn War (good song). I'm glad D.O.A. is still together, there is another band named The Rebel Spell, from Vancouver who is pretty good...
D.O.A.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8haaq3j0Rag
Australian:
BQ2: Old punk band from the early to mid 80's named Depression, track titled, What A Strange World:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-Yqvfj9338
1980's band named Toe to Toe (was a good hc band), no link available:
E1: Of all the bands I listed, I do like Depression the best...
Canada! I first listened to Australian Rock in my 8th grade AP:English class whenever we wrote essays and it was a band called the Shins(SO annoying,So ugh terrible) if Australian music is this bad than Canadian music is probably better!
Avril Lavigne is the greatest!
Both have some great music but i'm gonna say Canada.
Yeah, I'd have to say the land of maple syrup has more quality music. Just like you, I am definitely biased. I'm not too informed on Australian music.
BQ: Rush, Quo Vadis, Devin Townsend.
BQ2: Alchemist, Alarum, Black Majesty.
I guess I am more familiar with Canadian bands so I will go with Canada.
BA: Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Neil Young, The Guess Who, Steppenwolf, Rush
BA2: AC/DC, Little River Band
well ... this is probably like comparing apples with oranges, but here goes anyway: Canada has given us Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, who, in their primes at least, were two of the most artistically-significant popular musicians around. Australia, with the possible exception of Nick Cave, has not produced any artist of such importance. as such, I need to go with Canada.
BQ: Joni Mitchell, in her 1970-1980 prime. she could do no wrong back then.
BQ2: probably the Birthday Party.
