I have a little 91' geo storm 5 speed. whenever i stop at a light or stop sign the tachometer will occasionally drop from 1000 to <500 rpm's and will half the time not come back up to 1000 and just die. or when i'm driving around in a parking lot and i'm in 1st the whole time and having to do a lot stopping and going it'll just die shortly after putting in neutral or putting the clutch in (a lot of the time it's dieing by the time i pull into a parking space). but basically i've read all over the internet that it could be clogged fuel injectors, dirty iac valve, or the air filter. But the air filter isn't brand new but doesn't look very bad, i've bought fuel injector cleaner and i'm waiting until i get down to low so i can put it in empty and then fill the tank, i don't know how to find the iac but plan to look for it and see if it needs to be cleaned, so i was wondering is there anything else that could cause it to die when i idle or put the car in neutral and still rolling?

You're either not getting enough fuel, air, or spark, or the proper combination. I suggest this: replace your air filter first; if that doesn't help, replace (or clean and re-gap if you know how) your spark plugs; if that's not the problem, inspect your spark plug wires to make sure they're properly seated on the spark plugs at one end and into the distributor at the other end plus make sure there are no burn marks on the wires; then if that doesn't fix it, replace your fuel filter.
Other problems could include 1) your distributor isn't timed properly (not expensive); 2)you need to replace one of your computer sensors (such as oxygen sensor, or throttle control valve), or 3) you have a vacuum leak. Good luck
I write about his nearly every day. Take $20 to the local quicky lube and have them clean up your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE and throttle body. They FINE TUNE the air part of injection, the part that fuel ADDITIVES do nothing about. They must be cleaned up by HAND. REMOVE The air cleaner and you will SEE the T body and the IAC which has an electrical wiring harness on it. ALso find wosopmeone that knows how to do a VALVE ADJUSTMENT for you. By now your engine will be ticking a lot and you are losing power and mileage. GOOD LUCK!!
