The atmosphere and surfaces of the Earth regulates it's temperature. Without the atmosphere, it would be an average -18 Celsius in our existing orbit. The Earth's biosystem could easily provide a comfortable temperature at 1.2 AU distance from the Sun if the local set point is stable at a comfortable level. Global Warming is when we are at risk of transitioning from one set point to another higher one due to interference by man compounded by natural influences being triggered. Global warming is more about us not knowing what we are doing then it is about the distance from the Sun.
