Christians and non-Christians can unite..... under.... anger?
I recently asked the question "what turns you off about Christians?" I was surprised to see how angry so many of the responses were. I understood it to be a good venting session for some, which is great (partially the reason people use this site - no one to vent to in person) but I was surprised to see how many angry Christians there were too. Some were angry that I (a devout Christian) would even dare ask such a question. Christians... how do you communicate the gospel without a sense of respect and love for others. Non-Christians... how can one call themselves liberal and have closed off their minds to the religion that founded the country we live in?

I don't know what side your on, I don't know if you hate Christians or that you are a CHristian... to me your on the fence...
I can't tell if you are out to bash a shatered image of Christians or what the heck you are talking about or doing...

Most of the founding fathers were not Christians, but followed some of the ideas and attended church. Our country was founded by the people that fought for it, people of nearly all faiths and races. I am not a liberal, nor a republican, and why do you assume that all non-Christians are liberal? I am not an angry person, and often my answers here are in jest, or sarcasm. Why lump us all together? Your question assumes much, and creates little thought.
Um, I think you need to go back and look at the history book again. The only thing that brought Europeans here in the beginning was greed. they wanted gold, spices, and an alternate route to India. Not even the pilgrims came here for religious freedom. they could have had that in Holland, but they were kicked out by one of the most liberal movements of the time. Even the persecuted Quakers were more interested in making a buck than they were in freedom.

I'm an angry Christian, but not at you or anything. I'm angry at the Christians who are making America a polarized country with their "religious right", I'm angry at the Christians who question my faith just because I want to use my brain along with my heart.
What got me about your question is about the "liberal" "close-minded" non-Christians. I'll usually gravitate to this group before the fundies, but you've made me re-think.
Why is it so easy to gravitate to one side or the other instead of having some integrity in the middle? I mean... look at the other answers here... it's so easy to go to one extreme or the other (and that's usually a sign of immaturity). I don't want to be mean to anyone, but that's the truth. Things are grayer than y'all think.

And why is everyone harping on the founding religion stuff? I disagree with your portrayal of our country's origins, but I didn't see that as the main point of your question, so I didn't get stuck on it.
There may be some truth in why people dislike Christians. Arrogance, self righteousness, hypocrisy. These things exist. But what also exists is a hatred for the light, and that is what Christians represent, in the person of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said "if they hate you, remember...they hated me first".

Our country was not founded on Christian principles. Many of our founding fathers were Deists.
Don't look too much into it. They are just frustrated. Besides, True Faith is an individual belief and emotion. If it is of a group opinions spoil it.

Those angry people, never can be called Christians,they are fanatics.The fanatic in any religion,cult,etc.,always fight,loosing always their mind,fighting.Beliefs,religions,cults,etc, bring peace,love,moral values,etc.,to our families,never war.Good,very good question.
