I think if she isn't red or swollen and it doesn't hurt every time she pees you can wait and see what happens. If she had an infection she would be acting sick. I wonder if it isn't that she is holding her pee to long and then the concentrated pee makes it sting a bit. Try giving her more fluids and see if it helps. Cranberry juice is good if she is starting to get an infection. Obviously, if she starts having severe pain and/or fever you will need to get her in to the doctor.
UMMM she should not be red down there. I would take her to the docs sounds like an infection and it sounds pretty serious. If you wait to long liek march the infection could spread through her body and go to her brain and can cause harm or death. ALSO an infection untreated can turn in to a staff infection or can turn in to something more serious or she can get a flue and it can end up harming her 10 fold cause of her immune system being over worked from a past infection. Her bladder and kidneys can suffer or end up failing. Things like that are not something to take light. You cant just give her anything over the counter cause you dont know if they are a doctor and you can end up giving her to much and hurting her bad.
When you go to the docs. ask if they have a sliding scale fee. or something close. what it is, is they look at your family income and depending on how much you make they will cut the bill down. I save 20 bucks from my OBGYN cause he is not covered under my insurance and i refuse to change. I got my dental a few years ago done for 60 bucks andthat was a teeth cleaning and 3 cavities filled. She may have a UTI (urinary tract infection). It is quite common among girls that age due to believe it or not bubble baths. The agents that are in the ingredients sometimes can cause irriation in the urinary tract. That's what they told me when my little girl was not wanting to go pee either. I couldn't figure it out but then I took her in to have it checked and sure enough, she had it. When they are that young, they really don't like to prescribe anything because you can just give her cranberry juice. Preferably from concentrate but try and get a 2 y.o. to drink that straight. You can dilute it or get it mixed with some blueberry, grape, strawberry or whatever other flavors that your daughter likes. Try that first for a couple of days and see what happens. Otherwise, you may have to just take her to a clinic that is inexpensive like a Care Now. They sometimes have a flat rate that you can pay if you are paying cash.
Have you or your daughter noticed any blood in the urine? Does she have to pee more frequently than before/usual? Those would be signs of UTI - Cranberry juice will not help, it's only good to prevent (from what I know). If not, maybe she's irritated because of the wiping - maybe change from toilet paper to the humid wipes? If this lasts more than 3 days, then I'd definitely suggest consulting a doctor.
Take her to her doctor. Sounds like it could be a bladder infection or UTI. I have a friend who has a daughter who had this problem and she actually had a problem with her urinary tract and had to have a minor surgery. But it may not be that serious but I would still take her to see the doctor.
Also if you wait too long and she does have a uti the bacteria called candida can spread throughout her body. I had a friend who didn't treat it for a few months and it got into her blood stream and made her very very sick to where the doctors wanted to keep her there!
It sounds like a urinary tract infection (UTI), my daughter gets them occasionally.
The first time she did, se did not tell me that it hurt when she peed until one day I heard her screaming on the toilet. She had not peed the entire day because of the pain when she would pee, so finally she had to, and it hurt really bad.
I took her to prompt care and they gave me antibiotics. But it was too far progressed and she had to go back to get a shot of antibiotics.
That is not something that can wait. You will need to take her to the doctor right away to avoid damage being done to her kidneys. It will just keep getting worse until she gets something for it.
I agree! If it hurts when she pees, don't wait to have things tested. It doesn't take that long to process the test, and they could get her started on antibiotics that same day. I don't know if you've ever had a UTI, but I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemies! I decided to wait 'til I couldn't hardly go and there was blood. BAD idea!
Make an appointment or go to urgent care. Get that taken care of as soon as possible.
It's time to take her to the pediatrician and see if she has a UTI. She CAN NOT wait until March to have a bladder infection cured, she needs to be seen now to prevent her kidneys from being damaged.
Infection! get her a doctor. Also check the symptomes for yeast infections and urinart tract infections on webmd.com. Yogurt on a regular basis will help keep many infection away.
The Hospital should be able to treat her whether you have insurance or not because she's a child, just ring up a hospital and ask.
it's worth a try isn't it?
