Is being a dental hygienist a good job? Is it as hard or harder to find a job in this career due to the economy? Does being male give a candidate an advantage or disadvantage to getting a job?
being a dental hygienist is definitely a good job. but it could be harder to be hired as a male, maybe not. hygienists work under supervision of dentists, thus dentists are responsible for their actions, in case anything goes wrong. another issue could arise if a female patient sues for sexual harassment. usually hygienists work alone without any assistant, therefore there could be an increased risk for that when a male hygienist works alone.
It's a very good job. Not sure but I think 2 yrs training. I've never had a male hygienist but don't see why not. I think it would be appealing to many patients, namely girls! I say go for it and good luck.
