How will a discharge based on depression as a medical condition affect my employment opportunities outside of the military and most importantly my VA benefits?
It depends on which Involuntary Separation they give you...
If under 180 days probably an Entry Level Separation ELS Discharge
(With a Notation: Existed Prior To Entry (EPTE))
No VA Benefits...
Over 180 Days probably an Involuntary Separation, Chapter 5-17 (With a Notation EPTE)
"...Not amounting to an In-Service Disability"...
No VA Disability Compensation...
(Unless they knew about it and still let you in...term would be "Exacerbated by the Service"
but that is highly unlikely...)
Must Serve a minimum of 36 Months "Honorably" to earn the GI Bill...
AD for Training DOES NOT Count !!!!
WTF !!!! Being "Home Sick" can get you Discharged...GTFU...
How long have you been in?
Did you have depression prior to joining the military?
Why do you think the military caused your depressions?
Have you been diagnosed with depression by a medical officer in the military?
Until those questions are answered...no one here can answer you.
