Jurassic Park IV is an announced feature film that will be the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film franchise, and has been in development hell since 2002, with no concrete release date yet determined as of 2007. The most recent official talk about the film was in 2006, where it was said that filming would begin in 2007 for a 2008 release.
In November 2002, screenwriter William Monahan entered negotiations to write a script for Jurassic Park IV but I can't find any reference to Crichton being involved
Michael Crichton did not even write Jurassic Park III. According to IMDB.com this is how he is involved in the Jurassic Park franchise.
He wrote the first two novels; Jurassic Park and The Lost World. He wrote the screenplay for the first movie (Jurassic Park). The second movie (The Lost World), all he did was write the novel they based the movie on. Jurassic Park III and Jurassic Park IV (at this point in time) he is ONLY given credit for creating the characters. The screenplay writers for Jurassic Park III are Peter Buchman, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor. The screenplay writers for Jurassic Park IV are William Monahan and John Sayles.
I don't believe Michael Crichton has any future plans for turning III and IV into novels.

Yes there is a JP IV in development. Crichton is credited as one of the writers. Let's hope it will be better than the previous ones.
No, and I doubt he will. Kind of a bummer, huh? Sorry!!!
