My step daughter is about to turn 5 and she's also on the chubby side. She's about average height for her age. Maybe a little tall, but the main problem I have is getting her things that fit around her tummy and her booty without being too long. She normally wears a 6x, but sometimes she fits in a 5 and sometimes she needs a 7. The main difference is in how the clothing is made. I've found that some brands are made slimmer and some are larger. A good rule of thumb is to always go with the larger size so that she can grow into it and ALWAYS keep reciepts. With her shoes she's grown from a size 10 to a size 12 in just the past year. I think there is a size 13 and then it moves up to size 1. Good luck!

6 is a regular size or average cut. 6x would be for someone who needs the same length but is a little more husky around the midsection.
the X is just a bit larger than a 6.... like XL, it's a bit larger than a large.
