What is the difference between the subaru wrx, impreza, and sti? Now I know the sti has the twin turbos and is all suped up but is it the same as the wrx? I believe the impreza is like the "mom"s car, almost like the stripped down version. I am not sure about any of this, but the reason I am asking is I am getting my first car and my parents (mom) wouldn't want me getting the sti because of the speed, but is it possible to get the impreza and make it look/ perform like an sti. Or is the wrx like a half way between the two or what? Please answer

I actually, both.of them are wrong. Im about to buy a 2013 wrx. The impreza is your basic car. Its like you said a moms car. Its a good highway car and comes in a 5 speed. Next is the WRX, it has a 265 horsepower SINGLE turbo boxer motor with a 5speed. Next is the STi, it comes with a 305 horsepower SINGLE turbo boxer motor with a 6 speed. The difference between the WRX and the STi is the tune. Thr STi has a more aggressive tune, the turbo is pushing more psi I'm going with a WRX, doing upgrades under the warranty, then once my warranty expires, I will do more performance to get more horses than the STi. If this is your first car, I would not get the sti. This is very fast. You WILL wreck your first car. This will be my third car, im choosing the wrx because its more in my price range at about $25,000-$28,000, where the STi has a wider range starting at $34,000 and going all the way up to $50,000. Some of the sti have paint jobs that were only put on 100 cars, and thats why they can be so expensive. I was looking at a WRX that was grey with charcoal black 17. I hopped on the highway in ny test drive and hit 75 mph very fast. It gets about 25mpg also.
Depends which model and country
example the classic GC8s,
the impreza either came with a 2.0 NA boxer or a 1.8 NA I4
THe WRX came with a single turbo on a 2.0 boxer with about 150-155kw
the Sti came with a single turbo 2.0 boxer at 206kw.
If you got the 22B it came with a 2.2ltr boxer and 210kw
The sti's also generally come with better bigger brakes, aluminium bonnet, suspension arms, bilstein shocks etc.
You sure you are not confusing twin school turbo with a twin turbo? certain libertys came with a twin turbo - B4 Liberty. Some people have done the conversion into a wrx/sti; wrx and wrx sti didnt come factory with twin turbos
You can rice and impreza and make it look like a wrx or sti but it will be embarrassingly slow.
You can get a wrx and modify it like most people to get more power out of it, but you will lack the good stuff like in some models a 6 speed box, better brakes, suspension, brembos and other awesome go fast bits
All can go fast, just some cars can get up to speed faster than others.
2013 Wrx Horsepower
the wrx has one turbo while sti has 2.. the wrx has 265 hp and is fast but the sti has 305 hp and is even faster, so yes it is kind of like the half way
