For Me, I would have to say the PlayStation 3 hands down.
The total Cost of Ownership is lower on a PS3 and I think the graphics are better on the PS3, depending on the TV that you have.
If you have a Full HDTV (one that displays in 1080p), the PS3 is the only one that can play in 1080p. If you have an HDTV (one that plays in 720p), both systems can handle that resolution.
The PS3 can play Blu-Ray movies, and yes, you can tell the difference. Also, the PS3 will play, and up-convert your regular DVDs to play at 1080p. The XBox360 cannot do that.
PlayStation 3 has The PlayStation Store, where you can buy classic PS1 games, games made specifically for PlayStation 3, as well as add-ons for games that you may already have on your system. You can also buy Movies to play on the PS3, as well as NetFlix starting a service for the PlayStation 3 next year.
When you get a PlayStation 3, it comes with a PlayStation Network (PSN) account for free. This includes access to The PlayStation Store, PlayStation@Home (which is like an online game in itself with lots of mini-games and interaction with people in the form of avatars from around the world), Life with PlayStation (which is a program that includes "Folding@home" [SETI@Home's brother], as well as news and weather feeds from around the world) and Online Play and Tournaments...For Free, not $50 a year
The PS3 also includes a built-in Internet Browser, so you can even search the web from the console. Something you can't do on an XBox 360.
You can store your music and movies on the PS3, as well as on an XBox 360.
Everything you need to go online is included in the PS3, Ethernet port to connect a wire to your PS3, and built-in Wireless capability, which would cost $100 extra on the XBox 360.
All versions of the PS3 have a user-upgradable Hard Drive, so you could buy from day 1, a 20GB PS3 and upgrade the hard drive to 500GB if you wanted to. I have a 60GB model from the start, and recently upgraded the Hard Drive to a 500GB Hard Drive Myself.
The XBox 360 Arcade version doesn't even have a hard drive, and the elite does not have a third party upgradeable Hard Drive, you have to buy one from Microsoft, and they don't have a 500GB option.
For My money, the PlayStation 3 wins on all fronts. Games to Me look better on the PS3, I can go online without having to spend extra money other than the cost of My internet service; More of the games I want are on PS3.
To put it simply, the XBox 360 is meant to be part of your Home Theatre System, the PlayStation 3 is meant to BE your Home Theatre System
The xbox 360 is an excellent console, the online experience is amazing the graphics are practically the same as the PS3 but the xbox has more games to appreciate. You may have to pay £40 for a years xbox live gold but that works out at something like 10p a day so Im not that bothered I have been told by my friends that own PS3's and you don't get the headset free and a very good headset will cost around £23 and although paying that much the clarity of the headset online is terrible ...
The main differences between each are the online communities, console technology and exclusive game titles. XBOX Live is a lot more developed than Sony's PSN, but that's to be expected since they were on the scene first, but the PSN is free while XBL charges about $60 per year to access their servers.
Tech-wise the PS3 beats the 360 due to the fact that it comes integrated with a Blu-Ray player as well as Bluetooth (wireless) DualShock 3 controllers that can be charged through a USB cable.
Graphics-wise they both look awesome so there's really no point in arguing anything there. The only other difference is the exclusive game library for each console. Each boasts impressive titles like Halo, Gears of War, Fable and Dead or Alive for the 360 and Resistance, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Killzone 2 & 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 available for the PS3.
These are the main differences between the two consoles as I see them. They're both great in their own ways, but bang for buck goes to the PS3.
Why would you switch to a 360 now? Look at all the great ps3 exclusives coming this year, and compare it to the few good ones the 360 is getting this year. I wouldnt expect too much from the 360 in the next couple years.. it had an earlier success, but its run out of potential and developers are working more with the ps3 these days.
I have a 360 and a ps3. Xbox 360 sucks. I really like the ps3 because the online is great and in cod there aren't alot of hacked lobby's. Right now I'm thinking of selling my xbox so yaaaa. If I were you I wouldnt buy a 360 but hey its your choice!
You pay more for the xbox, cuz of xbox live ($45) a year, the headset, etc. Still, xbox live is a great online experience. The Playstation Network is still good if you just want to play with other people online, and its free. Now, the ps3 has just as many great (or even better) games as the xbox. You should stick with the ps3
I agree with you. I stuck with my ps3 though. Ps3 has a junk gaming library though. Most are full with multiplatforms. Some exclusives though, are really bada**, especially the graphics. The xbox 360 though has better graphics when it comes to multiplatform games.
If you love entertainment and you love your ps3 so far, keep it.
If you want a better multiplayer experience but don't mind paying every year, get a 360.
PS3 is awesome for entertainment especially with its Blu-Ray tech. The Xbox is mostly for a better multiplayer experience. I'm a competitive gamer so I prefer the Xbox but if your looking for a true entertainment system, stick with the PS3.
the ps3 has the blue ray and thats 1 reason why it better than the xbox but the online is no where as good as xbox live but the thing is you have to pay for the live membership but if you love playin games and being better than other people in them than its all worth the money and xbox has a better variety of games to choose from than the ps3 so basically my opinion the xbox is better but ths ps3 has better graphics

it depends on the game..... some games are available only to 360 while some to ps3. some games look good on the ps3 while others look good on the 360.
I think it depends upon a persons preference.
