Direct object in Spanish?

When you say "I love you" in Spanish it's "Te amo," the direct object goes first. Like "Lo tengo" (I have it). But what if I want to say "She prefers me to speak in Spanish" do I say "Ella me prefiere hablar en espanol?" Is that correct? Can anyone give me a little more details on direct objects cause I can't find much online? Thanks.

Another example: He told me to say yes. How would I translate something like that? Thanks!
