Disk Defragmenter won't show up on Vista?
Whenever I click on the disk defragmenter, the user account control will show up asking for permission. I allow it, and then wait but nothing ever happens!
It never used to be like this. Before, I could just allow it, and the disk defragmenter window will pop up, but now nothing happens. How do I fix this? I'd really like to start defragmenting my computer.

It is not like XP, once you start disk defragmenter, you should get a window open up saying disk defragmenter will take about 30 minutes to hours, complete with start button. It runs in the background, and takes a while. I use System Mechanics to de frag my drive a lot faster and more efficient, it is actually an all in on house keeping tool, worth a trial? Windows 7 is the same but a lot quicker than Vista
Do you have sufficient free space? The problem with the Vista defragger is that it lacks a visual display and one cant really make out whats happening! Try running a cleanup and then chkdsk and try again. Or just opt for a third party automatic defragger instead.
