The sutures don't actually dissolve, but are broken down by your body's immune system. Some people react differently to the suture material than others.
All you have to do is call your surgeon and tell him/her. He/she will probably want to remove them for you, which is usually easy to do.

Typically stitches that are dissolve-able are not visible. Did you make your follow up appointment? Someone might have dropped the ball.
Hint : If your doctor has a nurse or a physicians' assistant, try to get them on the phone. Much more availability and willingness to discuss.
