Ok you all asked for an intelligent question and not repetitive ones here. I always used to try and ask deep questions but only get like 4 answers, so no complaints now okay? Hopefully the "real" fans can answer this.
Obviously he didn't like the media attention, but do you think if he could go back and erase all of his fame to be a normal person, that he would? We all know he was forced by Joe into the industry, and he did always like to sing and dance, but do you think he would have pursued singing without Joe pushing him and his brother's?

I really do not believe that MJ liked being famous.
He is always talking about the downsides of fame (the media lies, the mobbing by fans, the haters, etc) and getting from what he has said in interviews and such, he hated being famous. I think if he could please his fans and earn a decent living of singing and dancing minus all the mobbing and hype, that would be perfect for him. He was easily embarrassed and he was shy and didn't love all that attention. I'm sure he was honored by all the fans and hype, and he loved his fans and all, but he said he couldn't even go shopping for groceries without being surrounded by people who want a picture or an autograph. He even said that he would do anything just for one day of being anonymous and being able to go out and enjoy the outdoor world without being noticed. And Michael said that the reason he even got in the business in the first place was because of one day, when MJ was like 5, he was making his bed and he was singing in his room, and his mother Katherine noticed what a beautiful voice he had, so she ran to Joe and told him to listen to MJ singing and give him a shot at being in the Jackson 5. So that's a good question; if it wasn't for Joe, would MJ even be in the music biz? And if not, what would he do? I know I probably just repeated your question, but it is interesting to think about.
uhmm he enjoyed being famous. but being famous for curing sick/ill children, the songs he wrote, the dance he created, and changing the world in different ways. NOT for how he looked such as his face, skin color..etc. i honestly am ok with how he looked. people trip over nothing. he is the most good-looking black guy i have ever seen in my whole life.(: and i dont think he would go back and change anything, just the fact that his father was abusive most of the time. : ' ( but Michael said it himself, he wouldnt love people and CHILDREN as much as he does now if it werent for his father. and he said his father was a geniuss, Michael was the chosen one by GOD. If Michael wasnt meant to change the world the way he did, then who would have? and the media treats everyone like sh.t:// they always pointed at Michael because they know he is sensative and he is the most famous person in the whole world. If Michael didnt care so much what people thought about him, he wouldnt stress out so much. but then again, he is super sensative. so yes he enjoyed being famous for the good he did, which is all he did. the media made up the "bad". and i dont think he would wana be normal, but he'd love to know how it feels to do anything without being mobbed.(:

I think he enjoyed it to some extent, he love being on stage, he said that he felt the most comfortable when he was on stage performing. He love being able to donated and help those in needs. But he had to paid a high price for being famous, the problem with that is he never really had a personal life. He never had a chance to live.
as far as I understood from his autobiography "the moonwalk" he loves his fans and of course enjoys his fame through his music a lot. the thing that he hated which every sane person would were the lies and tabloid spread from the media. one other thing would also be the too obsessive over reacting fans. in his book he mentions that he has a lot of scars from fans on his body and that girls sometimes don't realize they have long nails while they try to grab him. one other example can be the fan who claimed she had MJ's baby. aka billie jean. but I'm sure if he could get back in time he would go through the same path of being the best performer ever. the only thing he would want to change would probably be the persons who came into his life and took advantage of his generosity and kindness such as the arvizos or the chandlers. well time is also punishing them maybe hell and heaven is truly this earth...
I do think he enjoyed it, at least to a certain degree. Many experts on media studies say that you CAN avoid the papparazzi if you really want to, it all depends on where your home(s) is located and where you go to eat, to shop, etc. There are many HUGE celebrities that keep themselves out of the limelight for the most part, I do think Michael could have avoided that kind of attention if he really wanted to. While there is no doubt he despised the negative attention, I think he thrived in the positive light but too often they go hand in hand - can't have one without the other.
“The public at large has yet to really understand the pressures of childhood celebrity, which, while exciting, always exacts a very heavy price,” Jackson wrote in 2000 in a column for the religious Web site beliefnet. “More than anything, I wished to be a normal little boy. I wanted to build tree houses and go to roller-skating parties. But very early on, this became impossible.”
In the end, it may have been the desire to perform again that led to his death. He was training hard for a tour that was hoped to spark a musical comeback, as well as one more chance to bask in the glory of his fame.
I think he hated the media but ♥ed the fans i remember when invincible came out he said he was going to retire then but he didnt ahhahahaaa..
i think he liked the fame ndd glory so if he can change his childhood yess but his life overall i dont think so... i think the this is it tour wasn't really going to be it because if yuu look at his live performances he had fun and he always did things he knew was going to pump upp the crowd to make hym scream his name louder...
so yess he enjoyed it ndd i think he wouldnt change a thing...
and michael knew that wasn't going to be it...
I think he did, but on the other hand, he was too stressed out. He loved all his fans, and he said that he loved what he did, but on the other hand, he barely got rest, and was over-pressured. And also, he said singing and dancing was something that was inside of him. In his blood.
One more thing, there's no such thing as a "real" and "fake fan." It's either you're a fan or not.
how I understand it, he loved his fans. He loved making them happy. As many before me have stated, he did not like the media. I think he would have still been famous if not pushed, but not quite as well known.
He liked the fans and giving them what they wanted. He wouldn't go back to being non-famous because he knows that it would kill his fans if that ever happened. The only thing he hated was the Media and Paparazzi :)
