Yes it gets a lot better as you get into high school and college. When you are in high school you are hardly ever going to be seeing the people that you went to middle school with because there is so many people in high school from 9th grade to 12th so you may be seeing a lot of people that you don't know. You will make loads of friends that have the same interests as you as you get into high school. Everyone has their own things that they like and you shouldn't feel the need to be something that your not to have people accept you, you will have people accept you just the way you are. It is well worth it and once you get into high school you will see how much of a change there is. There's all types of people out there but don't be afraid to talk to people in your class, the more you talk the more you get friends. You only have 1 year left, it will all be over soon. This is so cliché, but go to a club or something. Be polite as you can to people and say 'hi' to anyone that you know. Ask them how they are. 5 minutes of talking with them and then move on to someone else.
