I want to get a henna tattoo... and then go tanning so when the tattoo wears off, I will still have the image on my skin from the tan/non-tanned skin. Will this work? My hope is that the henna will prevent my skin from tanning, so when it wears off, I'll still have the image.

Yes the henna will block out the sun and any tanning that you get and you will be able to see where the henna has been, i tried it first to see how i felt about probably getting a real tattoo, I wanted to experience looking at art on my body as i had always contemplated it, i was hooked and went and got a tattoo for real and i have to say they are addictive as i now have two tat's now and i am very happy with them, im planning on getting more done to boot. One slight downfall of the henna tho was that the effect of the tan line from the ink was feint as the henna peeled off after an hour and that was the amount of tanning time on brighton pier 2 years ago now, but the effect made me decide to get a real tat.i hope that decide on a fab design as my henna design became the Inspiration for real and i tan without the need for hanna now as im permanently inked for life. choose well and you may find it leads to something more permanent. no regrets
