I've just started trying to lose weight and being serious about it, currently I weigh 240 and I recently bought a gazelle edge. Is there anything else similar to the gazelle edge that helps you get in shape and isn't that hard on your body?
Update:I am eating healthy which is easy for me, when I lived with my mom she always cooked unhealthy food so it was hard for me to eat healthy.
Andrew I know walking is good I just don't like walking alone.

Hi Ashley, the Gazelle Edge is a good start! I hope you're using it at least 5 days a week but no more than 6; your muscles need at least one night to recuperate. Cardio combined with healthy eating is the key to weight loss. Check out The Southbeach Diet from your local library to get some basics on what to eat and when. The only other equipment I'd suggest you add is a set of dumbbells. Go to a Walmart or Target and find them in the sports section. Grab a pair and test them out by doing curls.

Buy a pair that are heavy enough that you can do 8 curls with each arm but not more than 10 curls. Then when you get home Google dumbbell exercises to find some good examples of what to do with them. Search for curls, tricep extensions, and squats.
Good luck!
Look up CrossFit. It's functional fitness.
Remember, obtaining a healthy weight is 80% diet. My dad lost 30 pounds in about a year from cutting out bread, sugar, and processed foods (eating them only occasionally) and doing crossfit.
eat fruit instead of drinking fruit juice

jog on the treadmill at 4 mph for 25 minutes or at 7 mph for 9 minutes
swap out brown rice or quinoa yes even the new super food which both add up to about 220 calories per cup for cauliflower or roasted peppers that are only about 30 calories per cup

What if you got a 10 fitness membership or something? $10/month for gym membership x 12 months = $120/year and all the exercise equipment you'll need.
