I want to install a ceiling mounted, kitchen exhaust fan in the ceiling above my pot-rack. I have easy access to a junction box that is a 20A branch circuit. The load on this circuit is very small (only 2 outlets on this circuit).
Is there anything "against code" if I use this circuit to supply power to my exhaust fan? I WILL use 12AWG romex from the junction box to the fan itself.
The reason I ask is because I think I remember something about NEC requirements for vent hoods. However, I have ceiling mounted, kitchen exhaust fan so I think that is different.
Thanks!

Your plan is perfectly fine. Be sure to use clamps on the wire going into the fan enclosure to prevent slicing the insulation. And one more thing. The fan box metal par can be VERY sharp. I recenlt sliced my finger and didn't even know it the cut was so clean until I saw red ont he floor.
So wear gloves and be careful.
