Hi, Ive just turned 20, (young driver)
I have not long passed my driving test and I am waiting to get a car, I have done some research into a FORD KA but heard some problems with them rusting apart from that they seem preety good run arounds
Can anyone tell me what other cars are about to get, cheap on insurance, cheap on tax, cheap on parts and cheap to run. Nothing to expensive as I am only looking to spend £800-£1,000 on car as I have a budget.
Many Thanks in advance.

Sounds as though you have done some homework and have a good idea of what you need. It is always best to have three choices, instead of being set on only one thing. I have been in the car business for 20 years. Always makes me want to bite my tongue when someone comes in and wants only one thing, in a specific color, and will not look at anything else that will be a better deal. I am not familiar with vehicles in your area. American cars are usually cheaper than a comparable Japanese car, and stay away from the Korean. You can see rust easily- always appears first the sections under the door and around the windshield. If the paint is slightly raised in those areas, even if you do not see rust, it means that it is rusting from within. If it is not rusted when you buy it, there are many maintenance things you can do to keep it that way, easiest is to always rinse it especially underneath if you have been driving in snow- they spray salt, and that rusts the cars. Do a free insurance quote online to see how much insurance is on vehicles you might be interested in. Go to NADAguides.com to see what the car you are interested in should cost, and expect to pay close to trade in for it. Do not fall in love with one just because it looks cute. Keep your budget and what it is supposed to cost in mind. Look for cleanliness- most people who keep their cars clean will also do scheduled maintenance. Most people who have a messy car "forget" oil changes and such. Do oil changes religiously- it is the cheapest and best thing you can do to keep a car running. Good luck!
The Ka would be a good choice.
To be perfectly honest, any car which costs only £800 is going to be fairly rusty and won't be in tip-top shape or condition.
Since you're 20, insurance is going to be expensive whatever car you get, the lower the engine size, the lower the insurance should be - but even postcodes have an impact on how much you have to pay.
Some other cars to look into:
Fiat Punto, Nissan Micra, Vauxhall Corsa, VW Polo. Not the best of lookers, nor the fastest, but will do while you get some No Claims behind your back and can afford something better!
