This was in Jr. H.S. ["middle school" today] and H.S.:
As my parents told me who were told by my teachers: "Ron could ALWAYS do better. He just doesn't apply himself."
AND as my parents told me: "Ron, the time to worry is not when the report cards come out. The time to worry AND DO YOUR BEST is the time when you're in school - every day. When you do well, the grades will take care of themselves."
Those are the only words of wisdom I have and was given.
When it came to post-high school courses, college and The Culinary Institute of America, I think I did pretty damn well - because these were courses and schools I wanted to attend. I didn't mind breaking my tail. I KNEW it was for my future.
Thanks for asking!

Ok, it's your first semester. You know what... it's a good thing that you found out you CANNOT fool around in college your 1st semester; College is not anywhere near high school- work load and study time wise. See this as a reality check and learn from it. My first semester I studied 20-24 hrs a week, and I still failed 1 class (I took 4 classes). Go to a counselor and plan your classes wisely, make a schedule of when you'll study and stick to it. College can be a lot of fun, but it's not when your doing so badly. You didn't fail any classes, but go to tutoring if you need it and study, study, study... reward yourself by going out with friends, et cetera. Hope this helps! God Bless!
As you said yourself, you didn't work hard enough. You would only need to be worried if those grades were your best effort.
So try harder next semester; you can always tell grad schools you were having a tough time adjusting.
Its not bad, but its also not that good. If you are going to go to college then put in the work. College should be taken pretty seriously. Next term work for good grades and dont ditch any classes. Put in the effort.
Your math instructor yelled at you and pronounced in case you get 9 Bs or above for the time of finished severe college, you will not get into an outstanding college? He could be loopy! it incredibly is any incorrect way around!
Yeah, it's not great. Definitely start putting in more work next semester, or you'll be stuck with a college degree that won't get you very far. Most employers WILL ask for your GPA.
hey..its your first semester, i'd say ur doing pretty well, you could always work harder to bring those c's up, but for a first semester, that sounds good.
