Couple of weeks ago i realized that when i walked in shoes the rear of my foot and my achilles really hurt. I decided to switch shoes being that i thought that was the problem. And about a week ago i could not even walk right in any pair of shoes. I had to walk on my tippy tows. I could not put any pressure on my heel. Well last week my calf started to kill in pain. It has just kept on getting worse and worse, and i do not know what to do. Can anyone help me on what this is and what i should do? All would be appreciated.
Thanks alot!

If the pain is in the upper back of the heel, it could be Achilles tendonitis. a condition that involves the inflammation of the Achilles tendon. The Achilles Tendon is the longest tendon in the body, and its main function is to connect the calf muscles to the heel bone behind the ankle joint. When the calf muscles contract, they pull on the Achilles Tendon, causing your foot to point down and helping you rise on your toes. Achilles pain occurs just above the back of the heel. Sufferers of this condition also experience tightness in the calf muscles. The Achilles Tendon may be noticeably thickened and tender to the touch in this area. Pain is present when walking, especially when pushing off on the toes.
One of the most common causes for Achilles Tendonitis is the flattening of the arches also known as excessive pronation. When the feet roll inwards and the lower leg is forced to rotate internally, it creates a tearing force on the calf muscles. Since the calf muscles are connected to the Achilles tendon, it turns out to be the 'weakest link' in the chain. The Achilles tendon ends up being overstretched, resulting in irritation and inflammation.
Over-pronation can be corrected by using orthotic arch supports. For more information, please refer to links below.
You might have plantar fasciitis. It's an inflammation of the tissue running along the length of the bottom of your foot. It can cause 'shortening" of the muscles and severe pain in the heel and up the back of the leg. One of the simple causes (I know this is going to sound so strange) is bed sheets that are too snug - your legs and feet have to hyperextend and that can cause distress to the muscles and tendons. I've provided a link below from the Mayo Clinic that gives some information. Something you might try is loosening up the bottom of the bed so your feet have plenty of slack and room to put your feet straight up. You also might try bandaging your feet at night to keep the ankles stable. Something important - you absolutely need to add more water to your diet because muscles tend to shorten and spasm when the body is dehydrated; AND take some calcium/magnesium tablets - you can get from any drug store - the muscles also need those minerals to stay relaxed and pain free. And lastly, you might want to do some muscle stretches - very gently - during the day and before going to bed at night. good luck with this, hope it helps.

You could have possibly torn a muscle?
I'm not sure exactly, but it sounds pretty serious... not something that will just go away.
I know going to the doctor is a hassle sometimes, but that's the next thing I'd suggest doing.
