I'm going to start learning a second language this fall in college and can't decide between French and German. I'm leaning more toward German because my aunt lives there and my family there doesn't know English. My moms first language is Russian (i don't know Russian) But I took two semesters of French in high school and really liked it. It was easy for me to learn and I like the language, I only had problems with the pronunciation. I'm also a nursing student if this makes a difference.
Which would be better for a second language??
Thanks!!

I would say go with German. With French, as you probably already know, you are better able to communicate certain sensations far more accurately and extensively than we can with English (the French language complements fine French cuisine). The lexical gap in sensational descriptions probably leads to stereotypes of snooty French people.
But, German is infinitely more deep especially in regards to political theory and philosophy. Furthermore, German has these long words to describe super specific actions such as "shattenparker" which is what you call someone who parks his vehicle in the shade so that his seats don't heat up. How amazing is that?
Go with German, its such a amazing language to know! (:
Totally French. I do French and your right it is a little tricky, but totally worth it.
