If your top burners make clicking noises when you turn them on you have an electronic ignition stove. When you replace the igniter do not touch the new one with your bare hands, the natural oils on your hands will damage it. Wear some latex gloves.
There's an igniter located underneath the oven at the back of the burner tube which has probably gone bad. When you turn the oven on, this igniter should glow bright red and create a certain amount of milivolts to open the gas valve to the burner tube and the gas will ignite off that glow coil. Sometimes they will glow but just not bright enough, and sometimes they may not glow at all. In either case that igniter would have to be replaced. But still has to be checked properly by a tech.
I'm going to say Phil's probably got your answer nailed. My Maytag gas oven's ignitor went bad a couple years ago. I was told count on replacing it every 7 years. A $60 repair. NOT welcome news but as much as I use my oven, it was worth the expense.
