i got a green horse yesterday.. or they told us he was green. they also said hes been ridden..
unfortunately he wont put a bit in his mouth so we have to work on that. Today while working with him on that (he was tied and does fine tying any other time) he broke 3 of my lead ropes.. hes 14 hands quarter horse.. hes average (to give you his size)
i need a heavy duty lead rope that wont be broken as easily.. im also gonna go about different ways to get him used to the bit... he didn't even touch him with the bit before he broke the leads.. (and also moved the hitch post a little bit to make one side a little lose.. which is 4 foot in the ground on each side [6x6 posts and one going across the top]) so i want a heavy duty lead rope so he wont break it during future training lessons if he decides to go crazy... also i want a nice, heavy duty lunge line that wont break incase he may decide to bolt while lunging or something..
and anyone got any good suggestions for some gloves?

I had a mare that broke everything I owned before I found this http://www.longridersgear.com/catalog/product_info... I'm not usually in favor of bungee ties, but this one works wonderfully, and my mare eventually learned to tie with anything, but this was what got her past so much trouble. There is very little that will stop a horse from pulling when they are tied fast and hard. When they have nothing to pull against, they will stop fighting since there is nothing to fight against.
I've seen this tie / lead work over and over, and have recommended it to many people with great results.
Dover makes the best Lunge Line going. http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-307...
I also recommend never lunging this horse in a halter; he will learn to bull his shoulder into you and run off the other direction. This type of horse needs a surcingle, leather lunging cavesson, snaffle bit, and side reins properly adjusted http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://dressag... This will give you the best leverage to work on the front of his nose rather than a bit or halter that will slew around on his face.
