I opted for experience. What the degree will help you with, is securing a high paying job off the get go. Because I didn't have the degree, I had to start from the bottom and work my way up the experience ladder. Also keep on top of innovations to stay fresh so that you are competitive if you decide to go solo and quit the college scene.

I personally think my design degree changed everything about the way I think about design. The program and teacher are crucial though. Learning to make a logo without any knowledge of design theory and the foundation of word and image is pointless.
