Strep throat is caused by Group A Strep... its a totally different type of Strep. Group B Strep is fairly common... sometimes it causes UTI or sometimes it just colonizes the vagina and doesnt cause illness. Its a bigger issue if you're pregnant - if the baby is exposed during delivery, it can develop a potentially fatal infection...this is usually prevented by giving antibiotics during delivery. If you're not pregnant, this can be treated if needed and likely isnt something to worry about.
