Two kids from RI schools have recently died from H1N1. They were supposed to vaccinate this week in the schools but it's been pushed back a month because there isn't enough to go around and they're starting with the smaller kids first.
One of my friend's and her son both had the flu and now both have pneumonia, it seems to be spreading a lot faster than I thought it would.
I know there has been a lot of controversy about vaccinations but if two kids from your states school system died, would you change your mind?
Have your shopping habits changed? I plan to buy a small deep freezer so I can stock up on things to limit my trips to the supermarket. Oh and I bought a whole case of tissues for the folks at work.

One of my son's has it right now (12 yr old). I thought my youngest had it too but I think he just had a cold. I live in Connecticut (right next door to RI). CT schools are not giving the vaccine and the pediatrician is only giving to 2-4 yr old children and those with underlying conditions so my children do not qualify to get the vaccine now anyway.
My 12 yr old has been sick since Friday night when he started with a really bad headache. Then Sat he woke up feeling a little worse and started running a fever around 101-102 and developed a cough and sore throat as well. Then Sunday his temp was up over 104 even with Motrin and he was in bed all day really sick. I called the doctor worried about his temp and he said it was most likely H1N1 and to give fluids and keep him home unless he has signs of complications. By Sunday night he was also congested in the nose as well. Monday (yesterday) I kept him home from school and he continued with fever but it was back down around 101 and today his temp has barely gotten to 100 but his cough sounds worse and he is coughing up yellow gunk so I will keep an eye on that. He's staying home again tomorrow and we'll see after that. I want to make sure he is not contagious before I send him back. I'm surprised no one else has gotten it yet but they say the incubation period can be up to 4 days which means someone else could show signs of it by tomorrow. Hopefully no one else will get it!
When I go shopping I always grab a disinfectant wipe and wipe down the handle of the cart or basket and I use hand sanitizer when I get back to the car.
It has hit where we live. They have closed all the schools in the district including preschools and some day cares. My two oldest girls attend preschool and my three little ones attend daycare 3days a week. I kept the three little ones home from daycare last week also since there were more then 5 kids with the flu or h1n1 at the daycare.
They were closed Tuesday, October 27th through Monday, November 2nd. They just opened schools today.
We haven't got the girls vaccinated for the h1n1 but they all have the regular flu shot.
Our shopping habits haven't really changed because if we need something and my husband isn't home then I have to take the girls to the store with me. I mean the h1n1 is another type of the regular flu and from what I have read the regular flu kills more people each year then the h1n1 has killed.
Yes, it's all over the schools, here... A few students have died from it.
*edit* At least 4 kids have died from it, in the past few weeks, so yes, when more vaccines become available, my kids will be getting it. My husband works with a lot of people, and they (stupidly) come to work, anyway... I don't need him bringing it home to the kids, so he's decided to get it, as well. (So will I, since I do the grocery shopping, and people are ALWAYS hacking all over the place, there.)
Yesss, i cant believe it got all the way here to MA from Mexico!
my schools closed right now.
